Running Adventures I have run in nearly 150 races, so I can't include links about every one of them, but the links on the left contain photos and descriptions of some of our most memorable races. The real heroes in these events are the friends and family who provide support and their photography skills!
Our Running History and Philosophy Running plays a big part in my life. It teaches me that I can successfully overcome adversity and sometimes even enjoy it. Although I've only been running since late 1995, the sport is now a part of me. I can't imagine life without it. I started running as a whim. I wanted to vary my workout at the YMCA one day since I was bored with the aerobics and weightlifting routine. Reid and I went to the indoor track and tried to run. I could only run about a quarter of a mile before my knees hurt and I needed to quit. For some reason, the next time we went back to the Y we tried it again. That's how it all started. Reid was never too keen on running, but I started to joke about running in the KY Derby Festival Mini-Marathon in 1996 (13.1 miles). As I continued to joke about it, and as we increased our distance little by little, it started becoming a reality. In November of '95, the YMCA published a schedule that would help you prepare for your first half-marathon. We started following the program which included running five days a week (including a long run on the weekend). We moved our training to the outdoors, mostly running in local parks where we were introduced to the challenge of hills. Sticking to the schedule was sometimes tough and throughout my first year of running I fought a battle with shin splints. I had to learn how to rest, pace myself, and treat injuries, but we continued toward our goal. In April of 1996, we completed the KY Derby Festival Mini-Marathon. It was our first race and we were hooked. Since then, running has become a family affair. My sister Patti and friend Jeane rejoined the sport, and our weekend runs became "run and eat" social events. A couple of years later, my sister Laura also started running. Now, racing is even more fun because of the cheering we can do for each other, the sharing in each other's accomplishments, and the FOOD afterward. We've never been fast runners but we still enjoy the challenge of racing and setting personal records. So many people I know who were "once fast" no longer run because they can't accept not living up to their old performance levels, but I hope running is always part of my life. You can also buy an in stock wig that is already made and ready to be shipped. There are two categories for hair extensions sale which are the lace front wigs and the full lace wigs. The main difference between them is the lace base, a best lace wigs uk has a lace base on the front half of the head while a hair extensions uk has a lace base that covers the whole scalp. You need to choose carefully between them, a wrong selection may cause a lot of inconvenience. The glueless lace wigs uk have many advantages, and one of them that stand out is that they look very natural and realistic. As long as it is attached to the head properly, it can be styled in the same way as real hair. A full lace wig is very lightweight. So you do not even need to remove it even if you wear it for several days. But what makes people feel headache is that it is so difficult to attach the wig to the head, which is one of the disadvantages for the lace wigs uk.
Some of my favorite memories include:
Running is not easy at first. Until I got where I could run with some sort of ease, it was nothing short of suffering; but often the things that benefit us the most in life aren't easy.
The miracle isn't that I finished, the miracle is that I had the courage to start. ~ John Bingham, Penguin Chronicles ~
